La presente investigaci?n tiene el prop?sito de describir la comprensi?n lectora de los estudiantes de grado sexto de la instituci?n educativa Domingo Savio de San Vicente del Cagu?n Caquet?-Colombia; ?sta se desarrolla mediante una investigaci?n de tipo descriptiva, con un dise?o de campo, transeccional contempor?neo univariable. La poblaci?n la conforman 77 estudiantes, de grado sexto de la instituci?n estudiada. Para la recolecci?n de los datos se emple? como instrumento un test denominado ?Lectura de comprensi?n lectora? contentiva de 41 ?tems; la validez y confiabilidad se realiz? mediante la t?cnica de validaci?n por expertos en ciencias y la confiabilidad se calcul? mediante el alfa de Cronbach, la cual obtuvo un valor de 0,85 lo que indica que el instrumento es altamente confiable y pod?a ser aplicado sin ninguna correcci?n. Para el an?lisis de los resultados se utiliz? la estad?stica descriptiva, espec?ficamente la frecuencia absoluta y porcentual, y la mediana como medida de tendencia central por cuanto la variable se midi? en un nivel ordinal. Los resultados demostraron que los estudiantes medianamente comprenden lo que leen en los niveles literal e inferencial evidenciando dificultades para deducir informaci?n de los textos, mientras que en el nivel cr?tico no lograron el nivel b?sico indicando que no lograron un conocimiento global del texto.
The purpose of this research is to describe the reading comprehension of sixth grade students at the Domingo Savio Educational Institution in San Vicente del Cagu?n Caquet?, Colombia. It is developed through a descriptive type of research, with a univariate contemporary transectional field design. The population is composed of 77 students, sixth grade from the institution studied. For the collection of data, a test called "Reading comprehension" was used as an instrument, containing 41 items; validity and reliability were made through the technique of validation by experts in sciences and reliability was calculated through Cronbach's alpha, which obtained a value of 0.85, indicating that the instrument is highly reliable and could be applied without any correction. For the analysis of the results the descriptive statistics were used, specifically the absolute and percentage frequency, and the median as a measure of central tendency since the variable was measured at an ordinal level. The results showed that the students mediumly understood what they read at the literal and inferential levels, evidencing difficulties in deducing information from the texts, while at the critical level they did not achieve the basic level indicating that they did not achieve global knowledge of the text.
