El escrito presenta una reflexi?n en torno al papel del docente investigador como factor de transformaci?n social a partir de su rol en la universidad y su participaci?n en las funciones sustantivas de docencia, investigaci?n y extensi?n. Se analiza la forma como a partir de sus acciones contribuye a la construcci?n de saberes, al mejoramiento de su propia pr?ctica y a la construcci?n de redes de conocimiento que involucre al estudiante con la acci?n de investigar para que aporte a su contexto y responda a las necesidades de la sociedad. La reflexi?n se hace a partir de la consulta de veinte art?culos de investigaci?n sobre la investigaci?n en el quehacer docente. Se concluye que la investigaci?n exige un perfil del docente que le permita actuar en varios escenarios donde sus decisiones influyen directamente sobre el desarrollo de habilidades investigativas en el estudiante y la construcci?n de una cultura de investigaci?n.
This paper presents a reflection on the role of the research professor as a factor of social transformation based on his role in the university and his participation in the substantive functions of teaching, research and extension. It analyses how their performances contribute to the construction of knowledge, to the improvement of their own practice and to the construction of knowledge networks that involve students in the action of research so that they can contribute to their context and respond to the needs of society. The reflection is based on the consultation of twenty research articles on research in the teaching profession. This reflection concluded that research requires a profile that allows teachers to act in different scenarios where their decisions directly influence the development of research skills in students and the construction of a research culture.
