Introducci?n: La obesidad es una enfermedad cr?nica, de or?genes multifactoriales, pero prevenible, que afecta a la poblaci?n a nivel mundial. Se ha convertido en un serio problema de salud p?blica, seg?n la Organizaci?n Mundial de la Salud (OMS) cada a?o fallecen m?s de 2.8 millones de personas por causa de obesidad.1 En este estudio de investigaci?n se quiere conocer la prevalencia y comportamiento de la obesidad en los pacientes atendidos en el Centro de Salud Virgilio Moreno (CSVM) en el 2014-2015. Objetivos Generales: Describir el comportamiento de la obesidad en la poblaci?n atendida en el CSVM en el periodo 2014-2015. Desarrollar estrategias para detener el aumento acelerado de la obesidad en la poblaci?n atendida en el CSVM. Metodolog?a: Se realiz? un estudio cuantitativo de tipo descriptivo retrospectivo de los pacientes con diagn?stico de Obesidad, en la Hoja de Registro Diario de Actividades, atendidos en el CSVM en los a?os 2014-2015. Se utiliz? una planilla ya predise?ada para obtener las variables a estudiar, las cuales se encuentran en el expediente cl?nico que reposa en el Departamento de Registros M?dicos y Estad?stica de Salud. Conclusiones: Se observa un crecimiento notorio en el diagn?stico de obesidad en el a?o 2014 al 2015. Los pacientes con mayor diagn?stico de obesidad se encuentran en el rango de edad de 35-49 a?os. Hay predominio de Diagn?stico de Obesidad en el sexo femenino con respecto al masculino. En el 91.3% de los pacientes con diagn?stico de Obesidad, no se constat? el manejo terap?utico empleado.
Obesity has become a serious public health problem that is increasing, so this retrospective study was conducted at the Virgilio Moreno Health Center to know the behavior of obesity in the period 2014-2015, Being the first research study that is carried out in this area. The study population were all patients, who attended the CSVM in the period 2014-2015 and who are diagnosed with obesity, making a total of 93 patients, 34 patients with a diagnosis of obesity in 2014 and 59 patients with a diagnosis of obesity in the year 2015. In the two years of study, female predominance was observed (66 patients: 70.9%), compared to male, (27 patients: 29.0%). Giving a ratio of women / men 2.4: 1. In our study, most diagnoses of Obesity, 29.0%, were carried out in the 35-49 age group, similar to the findings in other studies conducted in Mexico, but not in Panama. The most frequent chronic disease with 40 (43%) patients was dyslipidemia. With the accomplishment of this study we can have an idea of the behavior of the Obesity in the Center of Health Virgilio Moreno and identify where we must influence to prevent it and to be able to find the deficiency in the handling that is being offered to him.
