The objective of this research was to design a didactic model for teachers, which would allow critical thinking to be developed in children in primary basic education in the Municipality of Girardota, Antioquia, Colombia, by 2018. The research was carried out under holistic understanding, as a type of projective research, with the holopraxic method. A field, transectional, contemporary, univariate design was used. The population consisted of 13 primary basic education teachers of the fourth and fifth grades, and 207 students belonging to the fourth and fifth grades of the nine headquarters of the Manuel Jos? Sierra Educational Institution, of the mentioned Municipality. No sampling was done, and the entire population was worked on. To collect the data, a Critical Thinking Test was applied to the students, with a validity index of 0.75 and a reliability of 0.75. A critical thinking didactic scale was applied to teachers, with a validity index of 0.93 and a reliability of 0.75. It was concluded that both the critical thinking of students and the development of critical thinking didactics applied by primary school teachers are deficient. There is also a correlation between the critical thinking of children and the planning and mediation dimensions of teacher education, however, there is no correlation between critical thinking and the motivation and evaluation dimensions of teaching. Based on the aforementioned, the didactic model for the development of critical thinking of students in primary basic education (Modipcep) was designed, with the aim of providing orientations and guidelines to primary basic education teachers that allow, based on a process didactic, develop critical thinking in children of basic primary education.
